What to Expect If Your Cruise Ship Experiences a Fire Onboard

If you are taking a cruise this year, the last thing you’re probably worried about is suffering injury in a fire. After all, you’ll be surrounded by water!

However, cruise fires do happen, and they can be dangerous if they get out of control because there’s nowhere to escape to on a ship.

In this post, we’re going to discuss how and where cruise fires commonly happen, and what you can expect if your ship experiences a fire.

The Risk of Cruise Fires

In the past 20 years, 72 reported fires have occurred on cruise ships. Since thousands of cruise ships set sail each year, the risk of experiencing a cruise fire is relatively low.

That being said, it’s important

How Cruise Ship Slip and Fall Accident Liability Works

After an alleged slip and fall accident aboard a deck on the Oceania Cruises Marina, one woman has filed a case with the U. S. District Court for damages related to her injuries.

The woman claims that since the cruise line was negligent in several ways, it is financially responsible for her bone fractures and contusions. She alleges that the steps and flooring were not marked as being wet or slippery, nor were they dried in a reasonable period of time. Her allegations include that since the walkway was not secure and no measures were taken to provide a non-skid surface, and since employees were improperly trained, the cruise line is liable for her injuries.

Cruise Injury? Potential Incidents You Can Seek Compensation For

Earlier this year, a Floridian woman filed a lawsuit against Carnival Cruise Lines for an incident that led to serious injuries in the Bahamas. She was on a Carnival cruise to the Bahamas and decided to embark on a safari tour. Tour guides took the guests in a Mercedez-Benz Unimog, a notoriously unsafe vehicle without seat belts. The Unimog flipped over, and the woman was thrown from the vehicle. She suffered multiple broken bones and multiple surgeries for tears and fractures. She was among 10 cruise guests injured on the tour.

Her injuries did not happen on the cruise, but the activity was set up through Carnival. Because of this, she has argued that the two companies are so closely

Brawls, Unsanitary Conditions and Other Cruise Problems

A cruise is supposed to be a relaxing experience without hassle. Unfortunately, several recent news headlines have reported cruise ship problems that caused passengers to suffer unnecessary harm.

In this post, we’ll detail the potential problems that you must watch out for when you cruise. If you are injured on a cruise ship due to someone else’s negligence, you should fight back with a skilled maritime lawyer.

Brawls

In February 2018, several brawls developed aboard the Carnival Legend when it was sailing off the coast of Australia. Reports indicate that a 23-member family group instigated many of the brawls, which the crew did not sufficiently control. A video even suggested that crew members kicked a passenger while on the ground.

Worst Cruise Lines for Norovirus in 2017

Recently, hundreds of passengers on a Royal Caribbean cruise ship were struck with norovirus, which causes gastrointestinal upset that can quickly spoil a vacation.

During the five-day cruise from Florida in mid-December, 332 people came down with cases of gastrointestinal illness. According to one report, people were vomiting in the elevators on their way to the ship’s medic office, and the wait exceeded four hours for medical treatment. Water and supplies were quickly depleted.

A spokesperson for Royal Caribbean said that only six percent of the crew and passengers were affected by the virus, and the crew sanitized the ship before leaving on its next cruise less than a week later.

This is not even close to the first time

Dangerous Ports You Should Avoid When Cruising

You’re ready to book the cruise of your dreams – but are you headed to a safe destination? Below we are going to cover some of the most dangerous ports in the world, including tips for staying safe, and what you can do if you get hurt while on a cruise.

Crimes that can occur in port include mugging, extortion, robbery at gunpoint, assault, and even murder. Criminals know that tourists carry cash, are unfamiliar with the area, and don’t speak the language. That’s why cruise ship travelers are often easy targets.

In some parts of the world, your dangers are greater than in others. Here are the ports with the highest instances of crimes.

Work on a Cruise? The Many Different Ways You Can Be Injured

We tend to see two different images of cruise ships and cruise vacations.

One of these is the luxury and fun they can provide. Couples canoodling by the railing of a ship. Families going on adventures together.

The other image is one of vacations gone wrong. Shipwrecks. Stolen belongings. The infamous “poop cruise.”

There’s a third image most people never consider though: workplace.

Cruise ships employ hundreds of people, and just like passengers, they can get injured, too.

In one three-year study of 630 cruise ship workers, these findings were reported:

361 total injuries were reported. Men experienced 77 percent of those injuries, and women experienced 23 percent. Thirty percent of those injuries resulted in loss of work for more
